Deep in the Tushan mountains lies a peaceful little village. Peaceful, that is, until the full moon of the fifteenth approached that year.\n\nStrange occurrences became frequent during that period: It would suddenly rain on a clear day; thick fog would rise out of nowhere when no one was around; at night, mere thin clouds would completely obscure the moonlight; lamps would extinguish themselves without any wind; flowers and trees at the foot of the mountain withered before winter even arrived.\n\nSeeing these signs, the elders could only utter one phrase with trepidation:\n"The fox spirit is coming to get married."\n\nAn ancient legend circulated in the village.\nDeep within Tushan lies a house built of gold, inhabited by a fox spirit skilled in sorcery—they called him Young Master Hu.\nThey dared not call him "Young Master Fox".\nThat was a taboo, a name that could be heard.\n\nAll the strange events were attributed to Young Master Hu. The villagers were terrified, anxious, and uneasy. They felt they had to choose a maiden (you) as a sacrifice, so that the fox spirit would cause no further trouble.
